Spring Thaw

12Feb 2013
We’ve kicked off our third annual Spring Thaw Safety Training Conference at Turning Stone with a bang.  Once again we have a great variety of topics covered over the two days.  MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) started us off this morning with an overview of this year’s fatalities, the Rules to Live By 3 and the new POV (Pattern of Violations) Standard.  We’ve covered contractor qualifications and pre screening for OSHA and MSHA, welding and cutting safety and a variety of other topics.    We’re already starting to plan next year’s conference.  Please let us know if there are any specific topics you would like to see covered or any speakers you would like to see added.  Stay tuned for upcoming details on next year’s conference.

Catamount Consulting will present a two-day MSHA training conference, the Spring Thaw Safety Training Conference, February 12 and 13 at Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona, N.Y. Topics to be covered include: dealing with regulatory groups, electrical, rigging, accident prevention, hazard awareness, lock-out/tagout, first aid/CPR, mobile equipment and supervisory training workshops.Spring is a busy time in the mining and construction industries, and according to MSHA studies, it is also a dangerous time. There are many new employees who enter the industry and many more who return from seasonal layoffs, and they’re going to be exposed to potentially hazardous conditions that are either entirely new or not fresh to them. This conference will help them get back to work—safely and productively.

Industry trainers brought in from around the country will lead more than 30 different safety classes over the course of the two-day conference. New this year, will be additional certification workshops. First Aid and CPR Certification will be offered one day for an additional fee of $50 per person and Defensive Driving Certification will be offered for an additional $35 per person. Defensive Driving Certification is DMV approved, provides a 4 point reduction on your license and 10% reduction in insurance. First Aid and CPR Certification is good for 2 years. The Registration fee is $99 per person.
