Swedish companies to launch 5G pilot project for safer and more productive mines

Ericsson, in collaboration with several other Swedish companies, will launch a pilot project that will use 5G technology for communication and remote control operations for safer and more productive mines. The initial phase of the project, set to improve productivity and safety in the Swedish mining industry, will use new and existing technologies to remotely control a Volvo truck which transports ore in a mine operated by Boliden. The project, Pilot for Industrial Mobile Communication in Mining,is a joint cooperation between Ericsson, ABB, Boliden, SICS Swedish ICT and Volvo Construction Equipment, and its goal is to find solutions for increased productivity and safety in the mining industry by using 5G technologies. ?
